Spike TV Video Game Awards 2008

Last night I found the time to watch the 2008 SPike TV Video Game awards. This is the first time I have ever watched these awards live as I usually just read about the winners and watched the premeiring trailers or interesting tidbits online. I must say though that I am dissapointed after wathing the show and feel as if Video Games was a secondary feature of the awards with Jack Black’s antics, too many performances, shameless self promotions and just plain unprofessionalism.
I really hope next year will be a good year and one of the only things that makes me not completely dissapointed is the new Uncharted 2 trailer and Grand Theft Auto IV winning game of the year (albiet not surprising)

That will be the last time I’ll watch the Spike VGAs. It’s all for people who don’t care about the deeper aspects of video games, they just go by what they see all the time–*cough*Grand Theft Auto*cough*.
GTA IV getting game of the year was a disappointment, IMO. Sure, GTA IV is a *good* game, but Metal Gear Solid 4 is much, much better compared to GTA IV–but I won’t go into details. I was hoping MGS 4 to win, as well as the Best Male Voice Actor Award going to David Hayter (or someone better other than a actor from GTA IV). I’m hoping the 2009 VGA show will be its last. -_-
