Microsoft finally profits from Xbox
It took 7 years and billions of dollars in losses but Microsoft has finally turned a profit on it’s gaming box. Of the the close to 16 billion dollars Microsoft made from April to June 2008 the entertainment and devices division of which the Xbox video game console is a part of made just over 425 million, the first profit from that division in a long while (if any at all).
The Xbox 360 was launched in November 2005
The original Xbox was launched November 2001
Very few companies could have absorbed such massive loses from a product for so long. Although I am disappointed with Nintendo at E3 2008 I am still impressed that they managed to stay afloat through their rough spell and compete with the likes of Sony and Microsoft who’s main business in not video games. Rest in peace Sega.
