Dragon Age: Origins – Sacret Ashes Trailer

Dragon Age: Origins is easily one of the biggest game releases of the year. The RPG is described by Bioware as being a ‘dark heroic fantasy’ story that will be told on an epic scale with mature themes. There are many trailers, gameplay video and developer diaries for Dragon Age, I have embedded a recent action packed cinematic trailer entitled “Sacred Ashes” below.

The game will be released for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 in North America on November 3, 2009, and in Europe on November 6, 2009; BioWare has stated that the PlayStation 3 version of the game will be released on November 17, 2009.

The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom

The long running and popular Settlers franchise is set to make a comeback next spring when Ubisoft releases Settlers 7 for the PC. An awesome trailer was released recently for the game that does well to highlight some of the features of the new game. Players can choose from three paths to triumph – military, science and trade – with a new victory points system.

I remember many years ago when I first was introduced to the Settlers franchise, I think it was Settlers 4, I installed the demo for the game off a free demo CD I got with a magazine and it was so much fun to play. The medival setting with memorable characters and artstyle made it very memorable and I am looking forward to playing this when it gets released next year.

Majesty 2 – Walkthrough Video

While browsing and looking at video game trailers recently I ran into a cool video of an upcoming game called Majesty 2 – The Fantasy Kingdom Sim. It’s a very interesting game mixing RPG, strategy and simulation game elements. Check out a walk-through video below that explains all about the game better than I could.

Star Wars: The Old Republic – Update

It’s been 6 months since Star Wars: The Old Republic was officially announced a a lot has happened since then. The game is still at east a year away but the website is frequently updated with juicy information on the highly anticipated massively multiplayer online game that any mmo player, Star Trek fan or not can’t help but immerse themselves in this information.

I still consider myself to have very little experience with what I call “premium” MMORGs but there are a few on the horizon that I am looking forward to mainly Star Trek Online, Aion: Tower of Eternity and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

The Trooper Class was recently introduced through the website

I can’t help but admit that Star Wars: The Old Republic is a slight edge over the other online games I am anticipating because of it’s extra level of polish, base material and Bioware – a game studio who is well known for producing top quality products.

Taking Free Realms for a Trial Run

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Free Realms, a free to play (with a premium option) massively multilayer online RPG from Sony. It less than 20 days it amassed over 1 millions registered players so I decided to register an account and take it for a spin without knowing much before hand about the game.

I’ve been fiddling with Free Realms now for a few hours, created my first character and gone through the tutorial and a few minor tasks and mission. Lets see if this keeps me interested enough to write more about it.The PlayStation 3 version is not available yet but will be accessed via the PlayStation Network later this year.

Excited about Aion: Tower of Eternity

I have dabbled in a few free MMOs over the years from simple browser based ones to ones as big as Atlantica Online. I have very little experience with the popular MMO’s like Everquest, World of Warcraft and Guildwars due to many reasons – mainly time constraints, I refuse to pay a monthly fee or I just fail to see what there is to be excited about in those games to make them so popular.

For the last few months a upcoming MMO named Aion: Tower of Eternity has caught my interest though and if all goes well I hope to be able to play this game which is made by one of the companies with the most experience with massively multiplayer online games – NCSoft.

Mastermind: World Conqueror

For the last 2 days I have playing an hilarious, addictive and simple flash game on Kongragate called Mastermind: World Conqueror. It all started with me being bored at work and decided to try out a simple flash game online, I decided to check out one of the popular games right now on Kongregate and Mastermind was the first one to catch my eye.

The Mastermind: World Conqueror title screen

The goal of Mastermind: World Conqueror is to basically as the title says conquer the world. With a mixture of strategy and rpg elements you control your minions, defend you base, attack, kill, sabotage and steal your way to your ultimate goal. The main thing that kept me interested in this game is it’s hilarious cut scenes that are played out when you undertake certain events in the game, the humour was mostly good and the game is a breeze to play.

There isn’t much replay value but it’s the perfect game to clear your head while taking a break from work.

Quake Live now Open Beta

For the last few days I have been beta testing Quake Live. I really really suck and will for a long while but it’s fun for a 20 minute frag fest while taken a break at work. Quake live is now in open beta so anyone can register to test drive the service.

Quake Live is basically Quake III playable in your web browser. The best art of it is it’s free! and in only a few minutes you can start fragging your friends and perfect strangers. I might review this in the future if it sticks and becomes more than just stress release at work.

Monsters’ Den: Book of Dread

It’s coming on Christmas and end of year holidays and it’s been slow at work the last few days and will continue to be slow for at least the next 2 weeks. I twitter friend shared a link to a a flash games website and I suref in and browsed around before deciding to try out one of the games that i might find interesting. The first game I tried was an RPG called Monsters’ Den: Book of Dread and so far I am hooked. I played though the first level on ponged.com but decided to resurrect my Kongregate.com account and play there in a bigger community with more features like achievements and more.

I’ll be playing the Den of Corruption campaign first

This game makes the perfect work companion for when i have a few minutes to idle or clear my mind. The game saves my progress automatically and I can leave it unattended and not worry about being jumped by enemies or being penalized in any way. Sign up if you haven’t already done so and add me as a friend on Kongregate, I hope to spend a lot of time of this site.
