In the future it seems that death-row inmates will no longer have the luxury of being gung, electricuted or even given a fatal injection. No, we will soon put them in our own futuristic video game and have them battle to death against impossible odds.
Plot
Set in the near-future, mind-control technology has taken society by storm and a multiplayer on-line game called “Slayers” allows gamers to control human death row prisoners in mass-scale deathmatches, if an inmate lives through 30 matches then he wins his freedom. Simon (Lerman) controls Kable (Butler) the on-line champion of the game having won 27 matches and lived through them all, with his every move tracked by millions, his ultimate challenge becomes regaining his identity and independence by defeating the game’s mastermind (Hall) through launching an attack on the system that has imprisoned him. read more…
Street Fighter II was a very popular fighting game. There was a special bonus round you could between fights where you would be able to build up points by destroying a car. It seems a real life Ryu has taken it upon himself to re-enact the scene. Video embedded below.
I serious was expected him to break a body part with his bones making a crackign down effect as his elbow or knee shoots out from under skin with blood spraying everywhere and the paramedics running in, but alas my twisted imagination was not transfered to reality and he did “destroy” the car. read more…
It can be difficult to take in all the information at E3 in the form of press releases, announcements, conferences and news bulletins. The easiest and most preferred way for persons interested in gaming to get their information is to see it on screen as it should be via a trailer, technical demo or walk-through.
As expected there were hundreds of videos from video gaming companies released leading up to and during E3 2009. Below are the top 10 listing of my personal favorite videos released at E3 this year with a link to the video for you to watch if you wish to. read more…
E3 has come and gone but what were the most memorable announcements at the show? Check out the chart below to get an idea.
Many argue that this chart is unreliable and even bias but I dunno – I think it does a good enough job and is said to be based on media coverage and hype related to the various game announcements, presentations, videos and more from E3 2009. The chart above is just for the top 10, for the full listing follow the links after the jump. read more…
Post E3 and I am busy digesting the mammoth of game related information I have been ingesting over the past few days. I am working on a few posts and thought this short post would be a good one.
Onion News rarely fails to amaze me with their videos. I watched one of their videos early today that I thought I would share. Are Violent Video Games Adequately Preparing read more…
I’ve seen the press conferences from the big three and each had their own interesting bits bit Microsoft’s conference was most entertaining overall. The biggest announcement made during their conference though and maybe the biggest news of E3 2009 is their Project Natal.
Project Natal being demoed during Microsoft’s e3 2009 press conference
Project Natal is the code name for a “controller-free gaming and entertainment experience” by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform. Based on an add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, Project Natal enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller, through gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images. The project is aimed at broadening the Xbox 360’s audience beyond the hardcore base… read more on Wikipedia

Sony’s 2009 E3 conference was more low key than Microsoft’s but it did offer up some new information and surprises. Firstly the intentionally leaked PSP Go was officially confirmed and was shown on stage it all it’s sleek UMD-free pocketsized glory. Some of the other big annoucements are listed below.
I own a Wii that I never play anymore, I sold my DS lite with the intention of buying a DSi but was underwhelmed and decided it was not worth my money right now. My Nintendo fanboyism has waned over the last few years and now while I respect the company, all they have done for my and can understand their aim I now understand that Nintendo is becoming more and more alien to me. Of the Big three’s e3 press conferences I was actually more excited to see what Nintendo was coming with especially after being disappointed last year. Unfortunately my disappointment continues with only a few games looking interesting the biggest of which is the new Metroid title.
